ZINC PLATING

Zinc plating is a traditional, relatively low cost surface treatment, suitable for various different applications. Zinc plated surface is soft and ductile, it is used as a decorative finish with moderate corrosion resistance. Subsequent chromate coating improves the corrosion resistance of the zinc layer and gives the surface a typical silver or gold appearance. At Bomex, we have the ability to zinc plate parts of various sizes, our technologies include both rack and barrel plating.

Surface properties

  • Ductile surface with moderate corrosion resistance
  • Semi-bright to bright appearance
  • Chromate sealing improves corrosion resistance of zinc layer
  • Attractive silver (blue chromate) or gold (yellow chromate) appearance
  • Zinc layer with subsequent chromate seal is suitable as a base for organic primers

Layer thickness

  • Generally 10 µm
