Assignment

The customer needed to plate two types of steel components forming an assembly so that it would meet the demanding standards required in hospitals and operating rooms. Key criteria included high corrosion resistance, mechanical durability, and a smooth surface suitable for disinfection, as the component is both mechanically and hygienically critical for safe operation.

Used technology

A chemical nickel plating with a medium phosphorus content was applied to the steel component. The process included cleaning and surface pretreatment, followed by the chemical deposition of nickel, ensuring a uniform coating layer. The chemical nickel provides excellent corrosion protection, wear resistance, and a smooth, hygienic surface that is ideal for medical applications.

Result

The parts are now corrosion-resistant, feature a stable and hygienic surface suitable for disinfection, and maintain precise dimensional tolerances. The surface treatment meets all the customer’s technical and hygiene requirements and contributes to the long-term reliability and safety of medical equipment.
